A local friendly service led by Rob Smith, founded in the year 2000, the Barming Signs team has an outstanding 75 years worth of combined experience and knowledge of the industry.
Rob Smith
Managing Director
Rob, our very much hands on Managing Director, began his career as a paint sprayer in 1981, learning the profession for 4 years before progressing his career to vehicle graphics. Rob set up his own vehicle graphics company at the ripe old age of 22, but after a few years decided that although this was his vocation, he wanted to travel whilst learning the industry so off he went to Australia for 4 years. Rob travelled Australia, using the vehicle graphic techniques he had previously acquired to fund his trip.
After 4 years and a son later (Tom), Rob returned to continue his business in the UK. Barming Signs was created and business has been growing ever since.
Julia
Graphic Designer
Julia is our very talented Graphic Designer. She’s our jewel in the crown. She is by far the most interesting one of the team, with lots of stories and experiences to tell. Julia has been in the industry for 29 years. She began her career as a trainee vinyl cutter, a role which she stayed in for over 6 years. Julia too got the urge to travel and embarked on her journey at the age of 22 with a friend. She travelled America, Canada, Tonga, New Zealand, Indonesia, Honk Kong, Thailand, Nepal and India.
Jules is very passionate about the things she believes in – she was in a steel band at the Royal Festival Hall, is a keen athlete and recently ran the Brighton Marathon.
Tom
General Manager
Tom, our General Manager was born in 1994. As a young boy, at the ripe old age of 6, he’s come in after school to help his Dad in the workshop. Keen to learn, Tom took the after school stints on board and as he got older learnt to fit, wrap and work the tools. As soon as Tom had finished his education; he came to work for his father and has now worked his way to become General Manager.
Tom, a keen fisherman is very loyal and dedicated to his job; teaching the ropes to his younger brother Rhys.
Rhys
Graphic Installer
Rhys is the youngest member of the team, at the grand young age of 20. Rhys studied at Valley Park before venturing into the big wide World of work and after leaving School took on a couple of local jobs, before deciding to join the team at RTS. Rhys has been with us for 2 years now and is part of the graphic installation team. He’s doing a super job; under the watchful eye of his brother Tom; he’s a quick learner, keen and dedicated to the job. Rhys has a passion for music, mixes on the decks and plays the guitar.
